When you have a salad or finger food, it's tame without dressing, raita or chutney . The difference between my chutneys and this dressing is that it's easy to make. I also make dressings with different spices and flavors to get variety. I hardly use mayonnaise, with light sour cream I don't need oil either.
Kefir or buttermilk won't work here, but Turkish yogurt will work, as it has a slightly thick consistency. If you have small children who are skeptical about spices, it's smart to try this a little carefully as it is mild and at the same time gives some flavor. Try this on salads, barbecues or as a vegetable dip. It's perfectly fine to use lactose-free or dairy-free alternatives here.
DRESSING WITH THE FOAM
3 dl light sour cream or cottage cheese
salt to taste
1 teaspoon ground cumin
Procedure:
- The cumin is ground in a mortar, medium coarsely, not completely into powder.
- Mix everything together and let it steep for 20-30 minutes.
Tastes even better the next day. Enjoy.
