I've never been a fan of hamburger buns made with wheat flour. It's a bit tasteless to me. Since we use chickpea flour and oatmeal in the recipe I'm sharing now, it's perfectly fine to use fine spelt flour. You can certainly use wholemeal flour or other types of flour. For example, grind oatmeal into flour. The most important thing is that the dough is supple and not too loose. When I use onion seeds, it gives the bread more flavor.
Hamburger bread with chickpea flour
½ pkg fresh yeast
2 teaspoons sugar
1 dl water
150 gr chickpea flour
150 g oatmeal
200 gr fine spelt flour (can be replaced with gluten-free flour)
5 dl milk
¾ tsp salt
50 gr melted butter/oil
sesame seeds or onion seeds for decoration
Procedure:
Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water and add sugar. Then let it stand until you see it start to rise. Add flour to the yeast mixture, adding liquid and butter as you knead. When the dough is elastic and has released the edges of the bowl, it can be covered and left to rise in a warm place for at least half an hour.
Then shape into balls of the desired size and press them flat. Let rise for 30-40 minutes. Brush with water and garnish with sesame seeds or try onion seeds, like we do with naan .
Bake for about 12-13 minutes in the oven at 230 °. Cool, fill and enjoy.
Hamburgers are actually a very good meal – easy and everyone can make their own according to taste and liking. A nice activity when you have nieces and nephews visiting! I had the pleasure of that this summer, with homemade hamburger bread it was extra delicious. While I preferred my veggie version of potato burger , the kids had a great time with this simple but proud version.
Children's hamburgers
400 gr minced meat of your choice
½ onion, diced/striped
2 tbsp Nirus Tandoori paste
Procedure:
Mix everything well, shape into burgers and grill or fry in a frying pan. Homemade hamburger buns or with potato salad. The choice is yours. Try a dash of mango and lime chutney instead of the usual ketchup! If it's good, of course!
