Peanuts and all kinds of nuts are incredibly healthy. Peanuts are rich in energy (567 calories per 100 g) and contain a whole range of nutrients, minerals, antioxidants and vitamins that are essential for optimal health.
They help lower LDL or "bad cholesterol" and increase HDL, or "good cholesterol" in the blood. Furthermore, peanuts are a good source of protein; providing amino acids that are important for growth and development. Their use reduces the risk of stomach cancer and has a protective function against cancer, heart disease, degenerative nerve disease, Alzheimer's disease, viruses and fungal infections.
The nuts are packed with many important B-complex vitamins, are a rich source of minerals such as copper, manganese, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and selenium. Just a handful of peanuts per day provides enough antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and protein. It has been found that cooked peanuts have a two to fourfold increase in important antioxidants, so there is every reason to eat more of it. Take a handful daily. I do this 2-3 times a week by varying in salad, including in cooking and frying along with vegetables. Here is a simple snack, I prefer the ones I crack myself.
