Hariyala chawal // Coriander rice

Rice can be prepared in countless ways, I could write my own cookbook with just rice dishes! It's just so amazingly good and we usually eat too much, at least the good basmati rice. img_7992 Basmati means fragrant and my type of rice contains 12 times more aroma than regular rice. The quality can be felt in the aromatic taste and the length of the rice grain, which becomes about 3 times longer when cooked. Then you can add spices and other ingredients to taste and liking. Other recipes with rice can be found here . I recommend rinsing the rice 2-3 times and soaking for 15-20 minutes in double the amount of water. The rice will then be softer and cook faster. Use the water to cook the rice, do not stir the pot unnecessarily and cook with the lid on. 50-70 gr can be calculated per person, depending on how much and what kind of accessories you have. The more paste, the stronger the flavor.

CORIANDER RICE

3 tablespoons oil

1 teaspoon cumin

2 tbsp Nirus coriander paste

6 dl water

½ teaspoon salt

3 dl rice

Procedure:

  • Heat oil, add cumin. Let it fry for a few seconds and add coriander paste. Stir together.
  • Add the water the rice has been soaked in and bring to a boil. Add salt and rice. Cook with the lid on until almost all the liquid has been boiled away, then reduce the heat to the lowest setting. Leave with the lid on for 5-6 minutes.
  • This is so good that it can be eaten alone or just with raita.
