Fruit chaat

Chaat is a snack that is sold on almost every street corner in India. You can compare it to a quick sausage in a bag, but that's where the comparison stops. It is something completely different - vegetarian and served cold. If you haven't tried any of the chaat recipes that have been posted previously, I would recommend this one. The reason is that there are ingredients that are well known in everyday life in Norway. Here you have a fresh version with fruit, so we Indians eat almost everything with spices :)

Fresh pineapple and pomegranate are great in this, but I know most people choose whatever is easiest to peel and slice. The potato can of course be omitted, but it gives a good variation in fruit flavors. The recipe is for 4 servings.

FRUIT CHAAT

1 banana

1 apple

1 pear

150 gr. boiled potatoes

10–15 seedless grapes

1 teaspoon salt

1 tsp chaat masala

½ tsp ground pepper

2–3 tablespoons lemon juice

Fruit chaat

Procedure:

  • Peel the banana and potatoes. Cut the potatoes, apple and pear into 1 x 1 cm cubes. Cut the banana in half lengthwise and then into 1 cm crescents.
  • Put everything in a bowl and add grapes, spices and lemon juice. Mix well. Serve immediately.
Niru's tip:
It may be a good idea to set out small bowls of different types of fruits and spices instead of mixing everything together so that people with allergies etc. can mix their own favourite. You can also make your own favourite, spicy with pepper or with a sweet flavour.
