Nothing is more typically Norwegian than sausage in a bun with ketchup and mustard, a self-described classic when grilling and on May 17th of course. I have to admit that it is a super light appetizer or a light snack, although heavy on the digestion.
Here is a variation with an Indian twist on the Christmas sausage (Per Lompe):
5 cm skinless Christmas sausage per person
1 tsp coriander paste
Nirus Mango and lime chutney
red onion rings
arugula
Dip:
Light sour cream or natural yogurt
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh coriander
Procedure:
- Brush the frying pan with a little oil, cut the sausage lengthwise into 1 cm thick slices.
- Add coriander paste and fry the slices on each side.
- Spread mango and lime chutney in a thin layer on the loaf, distribute sausage slices.
- 4-5 onion rings and some arugula, add some dip. Roll up and eat immediately!
