Dhyana, as it is called in Sanskrit, is a urinary method of calming the system and mind to utilize the brain's capacity to perform and enjoy more. Meditation can be practiced in different ways and there are several variations. Mantra meditation is another method that I also practice. Then the same mantra is repeated a certain number of times
Sitting in silence, preferably in Padmasana; is a yoga position where you sit with your back straight and your legs crossed. The Lotus position is something that offers many benefits.
I had always been fascinated by meditation and a few years ago I tried several times to do it, without success. It made me anxious and frustrated, the more I tried not to think, the more strange thoughts and situations came into my mind. Despairing from all the attempts, I gave up, but after a few days it bothered me again that I couldn't do it. Then someone told me, relax! It happens when you're ready for it, then it comes by itself.
We all have situations in life that trigger something in us, and 4 years ago it happened to me. I was able to let go, I realized that I couldn't decide what to think or not think when I sat in silence.
Suddenly I realized how much unnecessary worry I was creating by thinking negatively, what if this and that…. My aunt used to say that there is an echo in your statement so always say how good you are and how great everything is going rather than focusing on what is not going well. Don’t talk in detail about what has gone wrong, talk about everything that has gone well and how great it will be. Talk about what you want as if it is already there or happening.
There are many, many benefits to meditation. It costs nothing and you only need yourself to practice. Sitting in silence gives time for thought and reflection, on Youtube there are several videos and links with guided meditation. I have benefited greatly from it. It is really worth trying! I would not say that I am trained, but I have become better than 4 years ago at nourishing the brain and body by starting the day with 30 minutes in silence. Preferably with pleasant music or after instruction. It is simply about giving unconditional love to yourself and those around you. Sharing a little tip here.
