Colorful tradition

Chudiyan, as it is called in Hindi and Punjabi, are round bangles, preferably made of glass. Also made of metal, silver, gold, diamonds etc. These were worn by girls of all ages, where gold chudiyan was seen as a great gift to receive or to have. All girls still receive gold or diamond chudiyan from their parents or in-laws depending on what they can afford. IMG_3750 IMG_3751Like shoes and bags, you need to have something to match every outfit. Hence the collection with many colors and materials. This is a great joy for us women, because who doesn't like to decorate themselves? Here in the house, with three of us, it's safe to say that many variations are needed. Now that Karwachauth was just around the corner, this became a must with the outfit. IMG_3754 Both in the past and still during festivals, there are different, colorful glass and metal chudiyan that are very popular. During festivals, there are big queues to get matching bracelets for new party clothes and it is said that no festival is complete without you hearing the jingling of the bracelets from the wife and the girls of the house. If the wife was angry one day, the solution was to bring new glass chudiyan, like flowers in the vest, to charm her beloved. This is well used in Bollywood films, where scenes and songs show romance as the man's gift to the woman. 1454825_268407276640786_1373785420_n
