Homemade Indian coffee

Previously, drinking black coffee and black tea was considered a bit strange in India, but now coffee bars and varieties of coffee are popping up, at least in the big cities. What is a bit funny is that the classic coffee we drink in India is the base for, among other things, Caffelatte, Cappucino etc. Good and not least cheap with homemade barista coffee!

Coffee in Indian style

2 servings

2 tsp Nés/Brasero instant coffee

3 tsp sugar or to taste

2 cups milk (possibly 25% water)

Procedure

  1. Whisk the coffee and sugar with 2 teaspoons of water in a cup until fluffy. You can use a teaspoon to whisk.
  2. Bring the milk and water to a boil, lightly whisk in the coffee mixture. Pour into mugs and sprinkle some instant coffee on top just before serving.

Once you have boiled the milk, whisk well to get a lot of foam. Transfer the foam to a small bowl before adding to the coffee. When serving, add a large tablespoon of foam to each cup, before decorating with powder on top. As a change of taste, a little ground cinnamon can be mixed with chocolate powder and sprinkled on top instead of instant coffee.

This is also very quick to prepare, and it can be left in the fridge overnight so you can just mix it with warm milk. Great to prepare the night before work or before having guests :)

Have a nice day!
