This drink is, as you can see from the name, a real fusion experience of a traditional chai and chocolate flavor! If you are lactose intolerant, oat cream or rice milk can be used. I think soy milk gives a slightly too thick consistency. Even though there is not much milk or cream, it gives a good feeling of satiety. It can actually also be enjoyed cold, which I can never do with traditional chai or coffee, it has to be piping hot. The sugar can of course be omitted.
In this recipe I have used Assam loose tea from India. If you have real vanilla pods, that is of course great! I have used vanilla extract. The most common way to drink chai in glasses in the past, but then the English men came to India and the nice ladies had tea time in porcelain cups. This became a new trend, I think it is cool that coffee bars are bringing back the chai glasses. They are just a little big compared to Indian ones
