Mango chuski // Mango slush

In the summer it gets incredibly hot in India. I have experienced 48 degrees Celsius in Rajasthan. It is so hot that even if you drink cold water, you feel thirsty. You can shower in cold water and cool down for a few minutes, then when you get out of the shower after getting dressed etc. you are just as sweaty again! Once the air conditioning system on the car we rented went out and we were driving a distance of 41 km (from Ghaziabad to Delhi). When stopped at traffic lights, it was almost like sitting in a sauna with your clothes on.

Well, what I'm really getting at is that when it's so hot, people like to make different cold drinks and dishes at home to cool down, including ice cream and sorbet. You don't have time to bring the ice cream home before it melts!! At least my mom made a lot of these and recently when I visited her I had to get the recipe for "childhood memories". In Indian it's called chuski which is compatible with slush.

MANGO SLUSH // MANGO CHUSKI

300 dl Nirus mango puree

3 dl water

2 tablespoons sugar

½ tsp finely chopped fresh mint

a pinch of salt and a pinch of ground cumin

Mix everything together and freeze in fun glasses. Take it out again after 4-5 hours and stir it around before it freezes too much. Enjoy immediately and ice cold.

It's a wonderful pleasure!
